Biography

My name is Jordan Steele. I have been serious about photography for about eight years now, and every time I go out to shoot, I learn something more about this wonderful craft.

I grew up in the Akron / Canton, Ohio area, and went to college at Cornell University, where I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 2001. I lived in southwest Germany for over three years while serving as an officer in the US Army. This allowed me to travel Europe and see so many wonderful things. In May 2006, I moved back to the United States and settled in Columbus, Ohio, where I'm working as an electrical engineer.

While photography isn't my profession, it is my passion, and I hope you enjoy my photos.

Equipment / Photo Recognition

My primary gear consists of the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Panasonic GX1 with Panasonic 8mm fisheye, 7-14mm, Olympus 12mm f/2, Leica 25mm f/1.4, Olympus 45mm f/1.8, Leica 45mm f/2.8 Macro, Olympus 75mm f/1.8, Panasonic 45-175mm X, and Canon FD 50-300mm f/4.5L. I used to shoot with Canon DSLRs, so many photos from those are on this site.

Three of my photos have been published in The Great Photography On the Net Photo Book, Vol 3. You can purchase the book here. The selected photos are Geese at Sunrise (Pickerington, OH), Circling Chicago (Chicago, IL), and Daring to be Different (Powell, OH)

Four times, I have been named a finalist in the BetterPhoto.com monthly photo contest, and was named the First Place Winner of the Special Effects category in the July, 2005 contest. This highly competitive contest features an average of over 15,000 submissions each month. My finalist photos are: Gaudi Light (Barcelona, Spain), Window Light (Hillerod, Denmark), and Climbing the Mountain (macro). My winning photo was that of Tivoli Gardens (Copenhagen, Denmark).
